The Dwarf Pea Puffer (Carinotetraodon travancoricus), also known as the Malabar Pufferfish, is a tiny yet feisty freshwater species native to the rivers and lakes of Southwest India. Reaching only about 2.5 cm in length, they are ideal for nano aquariums but pack a big personality.
Dwarf Pea Puffers are carnivorous and prefer live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, and snails. Offering snails regularly helps prevent overgrown beaks and satisfies their natural hunting instinct.
Though small, they are territorial—keep in species-only tanks or carefully planned communities. Clean, well-filtered water and hiding spaces are essential for reducing stress and maintaining health.
