The Glass Catfish (Kryptopterus vitreolus), also known as the Ghost Catfish or Thailand Glass Catfish, is a peaceful and mesmerizing freshwater species native to the rivers and streams of Thailand. First described in the early 20th century, it is renowned for its transparent body, which reveals its internal organs and gives it an ethereal, ghost-like appearance.
In the wild, Glass Catfish inhabit slow-moving, waters and form loose schools. In captivity, they do best in with gentle filtration. They are a shoaling species and should be kept in groups.
Their diet consists of small live or frozen foods such as daphnia, brine shrimp, and bloodworms, along with high-quality micro pellets. They are sensitive to water quality, so stable parameters and regular maintenance are essential for their care.
